This is the nutritional value of semi-skimmed milk in New Zealand in 2008. It represents the average aggregated nutritional value of a sample of 7 brands and sub-brands of semi-skimmed milk available in New Zealand and Australia in 2007 and 2008, mostly produced locally. The sample was collated as part of a research on the nutritional composition of milk and milk alternatives in New Zealand. This nutritional profile (see figure below) can be summarised as being, mainly, biased towards excess of sugar, adequate in fat but high in saturated fat, adequate in sodium, high in protein, low in carbohydrate, and low in fiber.

This nutritional profile may be more representative of those who change brands often, as well as of the population, in general. However, it is less representative of the universe of brands on offer and of those consumers who prefer a particular brand of semi-skimmed milk, for which a prototypical nutritional profile may be more relevant (see foodBNI).
