BNI™ 126.94-fb: Chocolate bars & bonbons (average)

dietBNI™ 126.94-fb: Chocolate bars, blocks and bonbons (average), AUS / NZ, 2011.

This is the nutritional value of chocolate bar, chocolate block or chocolate bonbon, which share a similar nutritional profile. The profile represents the average aggregated nutritional value of a sample of 38 brands and sub-brands of chocolate bars, blocks and bonbons available in New Zealand and Australia in 2011, produced locally or internationally. The sample was collated as part of a research on the nutritional composition of chocolates in New Zealand. This nutritional profile (see figure below) can be summarised as being: low in protein, low in carbohydrate, high in sugars, high in fat, high in saturated fat, low in fibre, and low in sodium.

This nutritional profile may be more representative of those who change brands often, as well as of the population, in general. However, it is less representative of the universe of brands on offer and of those consumers who prefer a particular brand of chocolate, for which a prototypical nutritional profile may be more relevant (see foodBNI).
